Pearl Jewelry
Pearls are the ocean's gemstones, and add a touch of brilliant aquatic theme to any outfit. With a rich and varied history of use amongst many cultures, pearls are a classic choice for any jewelry. Pearl jewelry comes in a moderately wide variety of bright colors, including white, pink and lavender - there are also the much sought after black pearls, which are becoming increasingly popular.
What goes with Pearl Jewelry?
Aqua tones, along with deeper navy blues go great with pearl jewelry, along with gold tones and orange/amber hues. Pearl jewelry adds a touch of classic beaty due to its simple and subtle sheen - and its because of this that it can also accessorise with many combination colours. Traditionally used as wedding jewelry, pearl jewelry is an excellent choice for brides as it goes perfectly with any wedding dress.
A history of Pearl Jewelry
pearls have been hunted in the ocean for many thousands of years. Divers will dive down to the ocean floor, pull up oysters and then open them and check for pearls. Now, pearl jewelry has become a lot cheaper as they have learnt to culture pearls in captivity by inserting a small nucleus into a growing oyster, to cause it to form a pearl around it. Although the Japanese discovered this process, most pearls now come from China.
